With ageing, the tissues around your eyes, including some of the muscles supporting them, can weaken.
This causes mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes. Fluid may also accumulate in the space under your eyes which will add to the swelling. The bags that may appear under the eyes from ageing aren’t usually a serious medical condition and are just the result of getting older. If your symptoms of bags stray from mild swelling, saggy skin or dark circles – that would be the time that you would need to see a doctor.
Along with age, fluid retention can also build up due to:
• Changes in weather
• Hormone Levels
• Salty foods
• Not getting enough sleep
• Allergies or dermatitis
• Hereditary conditions.
